There is something wonderfully different about this album! I would even go so far as to indicate that there seems to be a particular anointing on this record . There seems to be a deep sense of hope and joy that permeates within every note.I can feel the emotion within every scale. The audio mastering is fantastic . The audio levels and vocals are perfect . There is an eclectic mix of styles but the songs still remain faithful to the Santana sound. There are guest artists on this album but this time it does not seem overdone. Every song is in my humble opinion brilliant and there is even a couple of songs that are reminiscent of the Santana jams from the first few albums. Breathing Under Water is currently my favorite song on the album. There is a atmospheric and simple beauty in this song. I have been replaying this song several times this is one of those pieces that stirs me to my soul. This record seems like a happy ending to a quest. It is as if since he had his start at the original Woodstock, Carlos has been on a quest to find himself and to find God and it wound appear from this album that he has finally found both.

I look forward to the day when I hear a new santana recording and feel like he's learned something new. He's been playing the same guitar lickes since Woodstock.

This is generic commercial lameness at its worst. Carlos Santana has rehashed the same tired old licks for at least thirty years. Here we have an artist with too much money who is checking off the boxes of dream list guest artists in search of reliving the success of “Smooth”. His best shot at redemption is to assemble a cast of great Latin musicians and to create an album in line with his debut album or Abraxas. The question is… why would great Latin musicians want to record with Carlos at this point. $$$

Love the Santana - Winwood collaboration on Whiter Shade of Pale. If any vocalist could do justice to Gary Brooker's original. it's Steve Winwood. The Latin percussion and Carlos's crisp guitar lines provide a contemporary update. Well done, gentlemen.
